The Domino Effect

A few weeks ago, I put my design skills to use to try to win a $20 gift certificate to Fosters Smith, an online pet store. The task was to create a banner graphic for a forum related to cats. My goal was to get a laser cat toy.

I won. Oscar was thrilled.

So I went off to the Fosters Smith site and discovered the cat toy was under $10. I had $20 to spend. So I spent another ten to get him a perch for the window behind my desk, where the bird feeder is. Hey, you have to keep the home office cat happy.

The perch and the toy came today. Its horrendously humid and hot today so I didn't want to give him a heart attack with that laser toy (he simply can NOT resist chasing that red dot in circles) so I put together the perch, which amounts to a fleece covered cat hammock.

And then I realized that my big fat a**'d old monitor sticks out too far to accomodate the perch behind my desk.

Oscar is not using the perch now to snooze, he sees it as an access point to my desk and is now sitting happily on top of my wireless router, peering at me with the big owl eyes. And I know he's probably thinking what I'm thinking... "Oh, goody, now we have a reason to buy a skinny monitor!"
