Case Study : Corporate Identity and Web Development

GOAL: Our client, Becky Lake, is an independent realtor in Charlotte, Michigan. She wanted a new logo, tag line and web site, and ongoing marketing support.

STRATEGY: The logo and tag line needed to indicate that she was a realtor, and emphasize her friendly, personal and expert attention to each of her clients. The first thing we did was brainstorm lots of tagline ideas, using our process for doing so, and settled on "showing you the way home" which has double meaning in this case.

With a tagline chosen, we worked on a number of logo ideas, until ultimately settling on one which supported the overall brand identity, and would work on anything from a billboard to a business card. This is the web version, with a slight three dimensional effect.

Next, work began on the web site. She wanted to enhance her professional appearance with a site which was warm and inviting, classy yet comfortable. Her goal was to provide not only listings but other local resources for the people in her community.

This is the home page of the site. It featured a What's New module which the client could update regularly with news she wants to share with her visitors. Every page of the site had rollover links to each category of listing.


The listings were both searchable and browse-able. We used an ASP module which provides for a great deal of detail in the listings, as well as multiple photos, and an excellent administrative module. This way, Becky and her agents could upload and maintain their own listings without touching any code.

The particular module we used had tools for each listing including the ability to calculate mortgage, mail the listing to a friend, and print a flyer about the listing.

All listings were cross referenced with the agent so that you can see the listings for an agent and vice versa.

Becky also wanted her site to become a resource for people in the Charlotte, MI and Greater Lansing area. We developed a business services directory, which contains listings of schools and churches in the area, and a subscription based listing for any real estate related service providers in the region.

The site also had a feature called "Ask the Builder" where web site visitors can send in questions and have them answered by local builders that Becky Lake works with.
